Germany’s Miro refinery to install coking units

The 301,000 b/d Miro refinery in Karlsruhe, Germany, will conduct maintenance in March, including the replacement of two coking units. The refinery should be able to produce considerably more petroleum coke than it has been making recently once the upgrade is complete. Overall, German refinery maintenance should be less se- vere than last year. The Miro maintenance and a full shutdown at the 100,000 b/d Tamoil refinery in Hamburg for 30 days in August will reduce the country’s throughput by about 33,000 b/d. But production was reduced by at least 73,800 b/d on average in 2017, when there were a number of complete shut- downs.
