Norsk Hydro to acquire Arconic’s Brazilian plants

Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro plans to expand its operations in Brazil with the acquisition of US-based manufacturer Arconic’s two extrusion plants. Norsk Hydro will pay $10mn in cash, subject to working capital and other adjustments. The two plants are located in Utinga and Tubarao in southern Brazil and have one cast house and seven presses, in addition to value-added capabilities. The plants employ more than 600 staff in total.
