Indonesia may halt coal shipments over fees

A number of coal mining companies in Indonesia’s south Kali- mantan province are in danger of losing their mining business licences (IUPs) after failing to comply with existing mining regulations. Indonesia’s energy ministry (ESDM) said that 48 out of the 236 coal mining companies had failed to pay their arrears in reclamation guarantees to the government. The companies were warned this month about their fnancial obligations and ESDM intends to halt the shipping of their coal if they fail to comply, the ministry told Argus.
