Evolution of concept of Sustainable Development, its deterrence by Emerging Climate change and a way forward

In the wake of Exaggerated economic development in 1950s -1970s, which saw a severe deterioration of societal and environmental spheres Prompted by uneven economic development international environmental think tank undertook measures to safeguard theenvironment in the way of 1972 Stockholm conference on Human Environment, 1980 World Conservation Strategy report, 1987 World Commission on Environment and Development. Finally, 1992 Rio Earth Summit to formulate a Sustainable development agenda with theprinciple theme of environmental driven economic development, but in terms of its practicalities the said objectives were yet to be fulfilled. In the face of growing climate change especially in the light of IPCC V Assessment Report (ARV), which clearlydepicted the Rise in global temperature, Rise in Sea level and Exaggeration of Natural calamities devastating the Societal, Economic and Environmental dimensions of Sustainable development. In this regards, varied adaptive and mitigatory measures have been clearly discussed in the review. The review extends in support of renewable energy sector which shall effectively address the ongoing climate change and may also fulfill inclusive growth as well. Recent framework of International Solar Alliance spearheading by India shall be a big boost in the path of renewable energy sector. Finally the review concludes with a profound hope that newly worked sustainable development goals may manifest a sustainable planet earth, by way of vital stake holders participation through green channels which leads to holistic societal - economic - environmental development, which is the core principle of sustainable development.
