摘要

The present study describes the floristic diversity and natural vegetation communities occurring along the River Nile banks in upper Egypt, Aswan city in winter season. The study was conducted in the River Nile vegetation of Aswan city at five sites were chosen to represent the flora of the closed ecosystem between the two Dams. 71 plant species belonging to 27 different families were recorded. Most of recorded species belonging to poaceae, followed by Astraceae. Four plant species were new recordedin study area. Amaranthus spinosus L., Blumea bovei (L.) DC, Eleocharis parvula (Roem. & Schult.) Link ex Bluff, Nees & Schauer, Polygonum aviculare L. Among all the recorded species Amaranthus spinosus L. had the highest cover (34%). A specific focus onAmaranthus spinosus as new record with neumerous number and towering height. The floristic description studies as our presented study are important records during a time of continuing and increasing change throughout arid and semiarid regions.
