In increasing the production of livestock products, the decisive role is played by creating a solid fodder base. The provision of high-protein feeds in the West Kazakhstan region amounts to no more than 70 - 75 % of the need. Protein deficiency is high in the southern livestock areas. While on average 100 - 110 g of protein are necessary for each fodder unit, now this amount is actually 75 - 80 g, which leads to the over-consumption of fodder by 20 - 25 %. In the system of measures aimed at creatinga strong fodder base, an important role is played by the correct selection of highly productive and environmentally flexible adaptive fodder crops. Improving the efficiency of the fodder production industry is also achieved by improving the technology ofcultivation of fodder crops. Sudan grass for the first zone of the West Kazakhstan region is the most productive and drought-resistant, as well as promising crop. In this regard, conducting a research to improve the technology of cultivation of Sudan grass for the production of feed raw materials for livestock is relevant. The research is aimed at studying the technology of cultivation of Sudan grass to provide livestock with complete feed. As a result of the research, data have been obtained on the productivity and fodder value of Sudan grass in conditions of the first zone of the West Kazakhstan region when it is cultivated for green fodder, hay, and haylage by selecting the optimum harvest time.
