Mycotoxins: in vitro methodologies to assess detoxifying products

The contamination of feed by mycotoxins is a global safety issue, leading to substantial economic losses worldwide.Mycotoxins are small and stable secondary metabolites produced by fungi which are extremely difficult to eradicate. Consumption of mycotoxin-contaminated diets may induce adverse effects on animal and human health, resulting in teratogenic, carcinogenic, oestrogenic or immune-suppressive effects.
