Plant health authorities (government and non-government) in the United Kingdom (UK) have finally woken up to the consequences of Xylella fastidiosa arriving in the British Isles and are now seeking wider assistance by 'corralling and cajoling' the public into lending a hand. This time around it's 'spot the spittle', an aerated, frothy foam found on plants as tell-tale signs of xylem sap-sucking froghoppers (spittlebugs), vectors of Xylella fastidiosa, a highly virulent, plant pathogenic bacterium.
