A journal bearing is designed for its specific application. This bearing is used for high speed in steam turbines, compressors, centrifugal pumps, motors etc. This type of bearing has the maximum chances of metal to metal contact in operational conditions. Due to which a large amount of heat may be generated. This may be cause of the damage the bearing. The bearing understudy was taken from M/S Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mills ltd. This bearing was taken from power unit of the plant. The main problem with this bearing was that it was overheated in the operational conditions. So this bearing was chosen for study and some thermal simulations were carried. This Bearing was designed theoretically according to the data provided by the turbine operator. This papers deal with the theoretical thermal simulations of a journal bearing by showing the animation of meshed journal bearing, convectional area of bearing, temperature distribution, thermal gradient, thermal fluxes and thermal flux vectors in X, Y and Z directions.
