Development and Evaluation of an ECU for DPF Regeneration System

摘要

To reduce gravimetric PM (particulate matter) emissions DOC (diesel oxy catalyst) and DPF (diesel Particulate filter) combination has shown good results in different diesel engine application. As the particulate filter is designed to hold a certain amount of particulate matter or soot, hence after certain period of usage filter clogging take place and results in increased exhaust back pressure and reduce the performance of the engine or stall the engine. An active regeneration system in DPF means on board regeneration of the filter mounted on the vehicle by raising the exhaust temperature by injecting appropriate amount of fuel to burn off accumulated PM. An Electronic control unit (ECU) for active regeneration system is developed using an 8 bit microcontroller and has 12 bit ADC. In the proposed system the real time filter regeneration is done by monitoring real time parameters such as exhaust gas back pressure, exhaust temperature at different location. Based on the inputs the injection strategy for injecting proper amount of diesel fuel is developed and implemented.
