摘要

The uniaxial compressive stress-strain behavior of low density, closed cell aluminum foam by gas injection method has been measured and analyzed in terms of its microstructure and fracture morphology. The experimental results have shown that the stress-strain curve fluctuates drastically in the plateau region and that the influence on compression properties of the cell edge was more significant than that of the cell face. The plateau stress and energy absorption properties were determined with a modified formula ignoring the cell face effects in Gibson and Ashby's model and further verified with experimental data.
