Analysis and Modeling of a Unified Power Flow Controller in Newton-Raphson Load Flow

摘要

A unified power flow controller (UPFC) is an advanced member of the group of flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS). The implementation of a UPFC in a load flow program increases the complexities of computer program codes for a Newton-Raphson load-flow (NRLF) analysis. This is due to the fact that modifications of existing codes are needed for computing power injections and the elements of the Jacobian. This paper proposes a UPFC model which depends on a power injection. The attraction of this formulation is that it can be implemented easily in an existing power flow program without changing the basic computational algorithm. The sparse techniques are also applied in the formulation and the calculation of Jacobian matrix. The performance of the model has been tested using standard IEEE systems.
