Modest prospects for world trade and the metals market

Behind us lies a year of turbulent economic policy, with serious trade disputes between the major economic blocks – the USA, China and Europe – and clearly perceptible signs of a slowdown of economic growth. The world economy is likely to have grown by around 2.4 percent in 2019 according to an estimate by the World Bank in November, whereas in the two previous years a Three stood before the decimal point. Prospects for the current year are modest. The World Bank expects that global growth will "recover” to 2.5 percent – truly euphemistic expreBion for a basically stagnant economy.
