F?hl, a german specialist for zinc die-casting and plastic injection moulding, presents a new hot runner technology for zinc die-cast parts, which can be used without or with a greatly reduced gating system. A decisive advantage is the higher quality of the components due to fewer air inclusions at a high density of > 650 g/cm~3. The new process also offers a more filigree shaping of the zinc printed products. This makes it possible to cast new geometries with a wall thickness of only 0.3 mm, which previously could not be converted to zinc using conventional equipment. In addition, up to twice as many parts per shot can be cast on the same machine size due to the reduced sprues. Other positive aspects are lower material consumption, faster throughput and lower energy costs. The innovation is based on a new hot runner nozzle developed by F?hl and its partners. The experience gained in plastic injection moulding was the inspiration.
