U.S. weighs in on WTO fisheries talks, calls for complete ban on subsidies

The United States, in World Trade Organization negotiations on fisheries subsidies, is advocating against exceptions to potential/bans on subsidies that negatively impact overfished stocks, as well as on subsidies that support illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The U.S. position puts it at odds with other members, including the European Union, Indonesia and others, that are proposing a variety of exceptions to such bans.
