The Trump administration receives failing grades for its trade policies in a new study published by the National Foundation for American Policy, which bills itself as a nonpartisan research organization focused on trade, immigration and other issues. "A better trade policy would have focused on remaining in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and confronting objectionable Chinese trade, investment and intellectual property actions in concert with allies and through the World Trade Organization," Stuart Anderson, executive director of NFAP, said in a statement on the report, released on Thursday. The study, "Trump Administration Trade Policies: A Report Card," gives letter grades in seven areas: the stock market, cost to consumers, creating manufacturing jobs, cost to taxpayers, foreign investment, rule of law and the trade deficit.
