GLOBAL GRAPHITE SNAPSHOT: Recovering demand supports fob China flake prices amid tight supply

Assessments for graphite flake, 94% C, +80 mesh (+894) and graphite flake, 94% C, +100 mesh (+194) fob China rose with suppliers showing little intention to sell, while stocks are low and demand recovering. Supply has been limited by logistical restrictions implemented in response to the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in the production heartland of Heilongjiang province. The city of Jixi, which accounts for almost 50% of the provincial flake graphite supply, has been in lockdown. Meanwhile, operations in the expandable graphite and refractory sectors outside Heilongjiang province have been slowly returning to normal.
