Women development and empowerment approach in Sericulture

摘要

The importance of women's role in economic development since the 1970s led to many efforts towards building their capabilities and bringing them into mainstream development such efforts imputed the United Nations International Women Decade (1976-85).The Government and NGOs in different nations approached towards the advancement of women through various policy interventions. Such policy interventions have come across the approaches like 'welfare' to 'equity' to 'anti-poverty' to 'efficiency' and 'empowerment' resulting in more inclusive and sustained growth in India. This paper explains the different phases of women development that took place in India and how silk Industry adopted the same accordingly for the inclusive growth of seri women.
