Empowering women through sericulture

The Workshop on 'Empowering Women through Sericulture' organized by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and the Central Silk Board in September, 2014 at New Delhi was unique for the fact that 54 progressive women sericulturists from 27 sericulture states of the country were honoured by Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge), for their successful entrepreneurship in sericulture. These awardees, largely from the remote villages, were in fact role models to their fellow farmers, as they could come over the odds and make a life through sericulture for self and family.
