摘要

Aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) are potential materials for various applications due to their good physical and mechanical properties too. The purpose of this article is to review recent advancements in aluminium matrix composites and the significant features of MMCs high specific strength and stiffness, improved wear resistance, high electrical and thermal conductivity. Further the overview of the effect of addition on various reinforcements in aluminium alloys through unlike methods focusing on the effect of different reinforcements on AMCs on the parameters of mechanical properties like tensile strength, strain, hardness, wear and microstructure are deliberated in detail. The research gap of utilisation of advanced characterisation techniques in composites characterisation studies are reported less. The conclusion of the paper is to identify the research gaps and to draw the future research directions.
