Efficient Water Managementfor improving productivity and water-use efficiency in pulse crops

Pulses play a significant role in combating nutritional insecurity in India as well as in world. In view of this, the United Nations, declared 2016 as "International Tear of Pulses" to strengthen sustainable food production intended at nutrition and food security. In addition to offering a shelf-stable supply of food, pulses crops can provide additional income to producers. Pulses are high-value crops, usually fetching 2-3 times higher prices than cereals. Local processing of pulses can also offer further employment opportunities in rural meat.
