摘要

The study was undertaken to synthesize and evaluate antibacterial, anthelmintic activities of N' (substituted benzylidene)-2-(2-alkyI/aryl-1H-benzo[d] imidazole-1yl) acetohydrazide derivatives. All the novel benzimidazole derivatives were screened for anthelmintic activity against Pherituma posthuma species of earthworms and antibacterial activity against following bacterial strains: S. aureus, B.subtilis (Gram positive) and E. coli and P.aeruginosa (Gram negative). The antibacterial data suggest that compounds having nitro and hydroxyl substitution were more potent and the anthelmintic data suggest that compounds having chloro were most active.
