Cooling towers (CT) are very important part of the chemical plants and are main heat sink for removing the low grades heat from the processes. Hot water from heat exchangers is sent to the cooling tower to cool down with ambient air. The make-up water source is used to replenish water lost to evaporation. The thermal performance of cooling towers plays an important role in the operation of the chemical plants. In this article, efforts have been put to share the experience of retrofitting of conventional wooden Cooling Tower (2 cells) with Pultruded FRP structural components and retrofitting of cooling tower fan (one) for energy saving at IFFCO Kalol.
