Organic manure (Compost) has been an integral part of agriculture ever since inception. However, global industrialization, exploding population, compounded with modern mechanization of agriculture has left the farmer bereft of this precious resource over several decades leading to national average soil organic carbon content falling below 0.5%. While all stakeholders have started to acknowledge this point, the effort in the direction is short of wanting. Coromandel Internationals initiated operations during 2008 and has taken over one million tonne (Mt) of organic fertiliser to farmers of nine formulations, since then, with great impact and presence in the market. While the experience is not always as desired, it has laid a path and vision for the future.
