Duplex stainless steels are increasingly being used as structural materials in building and architecture because of the combination of high strength and corrosion resistance. The advantages of using duplex stainless steel in place of mild steel for girders of bridges in corrosive regions have been elucidated. The special cares necessary for fabrication with duplex grades have also been briefly touched upon.
