摘要

DR JAMIE SEYMOUR'S most recent Irukandji jellyfish sting was his nth. Given his description of the aftermath, you'd think he'd be more careful: "It's beyond your worst nightmare," he says. "Stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and severe pins and needlesin the lower joints and this racking ache throughout the body that comes in waves, builds to a crescendo, and then every five or 10 minutes climbs to an even higher level. It goes on and on and you can't get comfortable, even with pain-killers. And you get this feeling of impending doom, that something serious is about to go wrong."
