Doug is an Honorary Research Associate at the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, Sydney. For many years he was a botanist/ plant ecologist at the National Herbarium of NSW, Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, working on vegetation mapping of plant communities and conservation issues particularly for rare species in the Sydney area. Like many botanists, he is interested in botanical history.
