Lng charter rates rebound from mid-month falls

Prompt charter rates for LNG carriers fxed on a spot basis rebounded in late September, following mid-month falls as vessel availability briefy rose on slower US tonnage demand. Spot rates for tri-fuel diesel-electric carriers fxed west of Suez were at $62,500/day on 30 September — up from $56,000/d at the start of the month — but had fallen to as low as $50,000/d in mid-September. Corresponding rates in the Pacifc basin rose to $59,500/d from $53,000/d but, mirroring Atlantic rates, fell to a low within the month of $47,000/d.
