Chinese state-controlled oil company Sinopec is planning to add at least 17mn t/yr of LNG receiving capacity in the next six years to help supply the country's expanding domestic gas market. Sinopec's parent company state-owned China Petrochemical is aiming to increase terminal capacity to 26mn t/yr by 2023, up from the 9mn t/yr it currently operates at three 3mn t/yr terminals. The company's newest terminal at Tianjin came on line in early February, following the start-up of its Qingdao and Beihai terminals in 2014 and 2016, respectively.
