Santos first-half LNG sales fall

Australian upstream independent Santos sold less LNG in the first half of 2018 than a year earlier, but revenues climbed on higher realised prices. Santos sold 1.27mn t of LNG in January-June this year, down from 1.48mn t in the same period a year earlier. This was as output fell from plants where the firm has equity LNG production. Production was down substantially at the 6.9mn t/yr Papua New Guinea (PNG) liquefaction facility, where Santos has a 13.5pc stake. This was owing to the facility closing for more than a month following an earthquake on 26 February. Production fell to 2.9mn t in the period from 4mn t a year earlier.
