LNG to take a third of marine fuel market by 2050

1. Oil-based fuels will make up less than half of global marine fuel consumption in 2050, Norwegian classification society DNV GL says in its Maritime Forecast to 2050. The society projects that by 2050 LNG will account for about 32pc of marine fuel demand, biofuel for about 18pc, electricity for 3pc, and that oil's share will drop to 47pc.
