Sakhalin Energy will sell all third-train LNG

Sakhalin 2 consortium Sakhalin Energy, led by Russia’s state-controlled Gazprom, will stick to its existing LNG marketing strategy if a planned 5.4mn/yr third train goes ahead at its 9.6mn t/yr plant in Russia’s far east. Sakhalin Energy would remain the only LNG exporter, Gazprom deputy chief executive Alexander Medvedev said at last month’s Sakhalin Oil and Gas Confer- ence. Preliminary long-term deals for third-train LNG could be signed by the end of this year and Gazprom itself is a potential buyer, Medvedev said, without giv- ing further details. The frm already buys around 1mn t/yr of LNG from the plant.
