Iran LNG exports still 4-5 years away: nIGC

Iran is at least four to fve years away from starting LNG exports, state-owned natural gas midstream company NIGC says - much later than the previous target of 2018. The country will continue to rely on pipelines for around two-thirds of its gas exports, even after it starts exporting LNG. Most gas exports will be shipped by pipeline to Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and - possibly at a later date - Oman, NIGC planning director Mohammad-Reza Ghod- sizadeh said at last month’s Asia Pacifc Gas Conference in Daegu, South Korea. A planned gas pipeline to Oman would allow Iran to access liquefaction capacity at Oman’s 10.4mn t/yr Qalhat liquefaction facility.
