US companies hoping to build the next round of LNG export terminals glimpse a golden ticket in President Donald Trump’s push to reduce US trade defcits with other countries. Those companies need to sign up customers in Japan, South Korea, China and other LNG-importing countries before they can secure financing and start construction. So they have tailored their marketing pitch beyond the business case to focus on how purchasing their exports would make a dent in trade defcits that Trump has threatened to reduce through steep new tariffs.
