Japan and South Korea are likely to experience warmer-than-average weather until May, keeping spot LNG demand under pressure following a mild November- March winter season. Japan’s meteorological agency is predicting a 50pc likelihood of above-aver- age temperatures across all the country’s 12 geographical regions in the three months to the end of May, under its latest forecast. This compares with a 30pc probability of normal weather and 20pc probability of below-normal tempera- tures. The agency’s one-month forecast shows a 60pc probability of warmer-than- normal weather across 10 of its regions, falling to 50pc for Okinawa and Amami.
