One of the world's leading creators of naturalistic, outdoor environments for theme parks, zoos and resorts has drastically reduced moldmaking labor time and manpower requirements through the use of a unique spray dispensing system. Rock & Waterscape Systems (RWS), Irvine, Calif, has replaced time-consuming hand lay-up procedures with a versatile, new equipment design that mixes, meters and sprays a high-viscosity, silicone moldmaking material. The process is used to replicate natural settings such as waterfalls, rock formations, underwater habitats and even ancient ruins. The company uses the same technology to camouflage erosion control systems, storm drains and sewers so that these otherwise unattractive structures provide an aesthetically pleasing environment.
