The Vietnam Chemicals Agency is ramping up efforts to remove lead from paints in Vietnam,officially requesting to be considered a partner in the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead in Paint,a voluntary partnership formed by the UN Environment Programme(UNEP)and the World Health Organization(WHO).Its goal is to prevent exposure to lead from paints and phase out the use of this ingredient.In October 2018,the Vietnam Paint and Printing Ink Association(VPIA)launched a group charged with providing concrete and detailed action plans.Among the planned measures is technical support for companies replacing lead compounds in paints and inks with other compounds.The 14-member group comprises major paint manufacturers operating in the country.
