摘要

Several recent observational studies reported reduced radiographic progression in subjects with greater body mass index (BMI) compared with those with lower BMI.While thin subjects with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) might be hypothesised to have a more severe form of the disease, the explanation for the lower risk among overweight and obese subjects has not been fully elucidated. Adequate power and subject characterisation has not been available to fully evaluate potential confounding factors, including disease activity and treatment effects.
