Exporters look to northern ports

St Petersburg and Ust-Luga have become the main outlets for Russian petroleum coke exports this year, with shippers halting supplies through the southern port of Azov and outlets in Latvia and Estonia. St Petersburg Sea Port (SPSP) was the main outlet for Russian petroleum coke in January-July, handling supplies of 196,000t, rail freight forwarding companies say. Regular exports through SPSP began in August last year, when the port’s management signed a contract with Russian coal mining and trading company Suek. About 130,000t of petroleum coke was loaded at St Petersburg in August- December last year. SPSP is part of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCLH), owned by Russian businessman Vladimir Lisin.
