Intra-Baltic products shipments fall

Terminals in the Baltic states are continuing their decade-long diversification drive in the face of falling products supplies from Russia - a result of unofficial Russian rail restrictions. But overall products shipments between the main Baltic Sea ports have fallen this year. A number of terminals in the Baltic states have switched their operational focus to offering long-term storage and blending services, while trading companies Vitol, Trafigura and Tintrade are involved in shipping products between regional terminals to accumulate cargoes large enough for export. But even this trading activity has declined in 2018.
