Taiwanese refiner Formosa appears to have bought its first light sweet BTC Blend crude in almost a year. And a cargo of the grade may soon depart for China. The Suezmax Kriti Island is sailing to Mailiao in Taiwan, where Formosa Petrochemical operates a 540,000 b/d refinery, after loading 1mn bl of BTC Blend at the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan on 6 September. The Kriti Island is following the Fontana, which departed Ceyhan with around 1mn bl of BTC Blend on 2 September, also with Mailiao as its destination. And Azeri state-owned Socar has booked the VLCC Arion for a similar voyage on 7-9 October.
