Haitian president Jovenel Moise has become embroiled in a corruption scandal involving the misuse of funds from Venezuela’s PetroCaribe supply programme. A report sent to Haiti’s parliament on 31 May by the superior court of auditors says frms linked to some government ofcials, including Moise, received $2bn from the country’s PetroCaribe fund for government projects that never saw the light of day. The missing amount represents around half the benefts that Haiti received under PetroCaribe in 2008-16, the report says. C
