Variants (A) of group 1 allergens (I) of Poaceae that have, compared with the wild-type allergens, reduced immunoglobulin E (IgE) reactivitiy but essentially retained reactivity with T lymphocytes, are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) DNA molecules (II) that encode (A); (2) recombinant expression vector (EV) containing (II) functionally linked to an expression control sequence; (3) host organism transformed with (II) or EV; and (4) preparing (A) by growing organisms of (3).
