The North African countries have had divergent trends over the past year. Improvements in the European economy, lower oil prices and some progress on the policy front have bolstered growth which is expected to pick up significantly in Egypt and Morocco where GDP has accelerated toan estimated 4-5% last year. On the other hand, civil war and terrorism pose widespread economic challenges in Libya and Tunisia with spillovers into neighboring countries.
