Gladstone posts higher coal exports in 2019

Australia's Gladstone coal export port in Queensland shipped record volumes of coal in 2019, driven by increased exports to India and southeast Asia, as the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (Wicet) continues its gradual ramp-up. Gladstone shipped 72.55mn t of coking and thermal coal in 2019, up from 67.9mn t in 2018 and ahead of the previous record of 72.02mn t in 2015. Gladstone ships around 50pc ther- mal coal and 50pc metallurgical coal.
