Prices rose in the Italian premium market this week on a reported lack of volume at lower prices, as cold weather was forecast to persist into the second quarter. The spot price for bagged EN plus pellets delivered into northern Italy rose by ?2/t to reach ?230/t. And the spot price for bulk EN plus pellets also rose by ?2/t to ?166/t. Although March is almost over and the official "preseason" begins in April, cold weather persists in northern Italy. Average temperatures across Milan and Turin were forecast to be 1.5°C lower than the seasonal norm over the next two weeks as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Speedwell Weather.
