Asia Industrial Biomass: Spot steady on tender

The spot price for industrial Vietnamese wood pellets eased by 3c/t on the week to $96.72/t fob Vietnam on Wednesday following the outcome of a tender issued by South Korean state-owned utility Korea East-West Power (EWP). EWP's tender for 34,089t of wood pellets was reported to have concluded on 12 June in the mid-$120s/t on a delivered duty paid (ddp) basis - equivalent to around the mid $90s/t on a fob Vietnam basis, Korean traders estimated. Vietnamese and Malaysian pellets were successfully placed in the tender. The utility sought pellets with a minimum net calorifc value (NCV) of 4,000 kcal/kg delivered to its 4GW Dangjin power plant in June-December.
