North American wood pellet exports hit a record frst- quarter high this year despite Canadian shipments falling to just 40,000t in February. The US and Canada exported a combined 2.31mn t of pellets in the frst quarter, up by close to 14pc from 2.03mn t a year earlier. The US accounted for the majority — around 1.72mn t — up by 15pc. Canadian exports rose by over 11pc to just under 600,000t — with both countries setting new record frst-quarter highs.
