Japan’s Idemitsu to expand biomass fuel business

Japanese energy frm Idemitsu is looking to expand its biomass power generation fuel business, particularly black pellets, amid an expected rise in demand from coal-fred power producers to tackle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Idemitsu plans to build a new black pellet production facility at Surat Thani in Thailand, together with unnamed two local companies. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin next year.
