Japan’s envipro to expand biomass business

Japanese resource recycling firm Envipro is aiming to expand its biomass fuel purchase and supply business, taking advantage of expected growth in the country’s demand for the fuel. Envipro plans to increase its handling volumes of wood pellets and palm kernel shells (PKS) to 200,000t in 2023, up tenfold from an estimated 20,000t this year. The company is considering expanding its logistics centre to accommodate the fuels, while also possibly building overseas wood pellet production sites, although details remain unknown.
